Exploring a New Direction in Equine Comfort

Everwild Equine Biosciences was founded from the belief that horses deserve thoughtful, responsible innovation in how we support their comfort and quality of life.

My interest in equine cannabinoid research began at the intersection of two important parts of my life: my professional experience in Missouri’s cannabis industry and my lifelong connection with horses.

After experiencing noticeable relief from a topical THC balm following a day of horseback riding, I began wondering whether the same plant could hold responsibly researched applications for horses experiencing localized soreness and discomfort. That question became deeply personal as I watched my own horse manage the effects of navicular disease, recurring hoof sensitivity, stiffness, and changes in her mobility.

I was not looking for a miracle cure or a replacement for veterinary medicine. I was asking a research question:

Could a carefully formulated cannabinoid topical interact with receptors in equine tissues to support localized comfort while producing minimal systemic exposure and no intoxicating effect?

That question became the foundation of Everwild Equine Biosciences.

Our Purpose

Everwild Equine Biosciences is an early-stage research and development initiative exploring the scientific potential of topical cannabinoid formulations for equine musculoskeletal comfort.

The long-term goal is to help advance responsible research into how cannabinoids interact with equine tissues, how topical compounds are absorbed, what dosages may be appropriate, and whether localized benefits could be achieved without clinically significant systemic or intoxicating effects.

This work is grounded in three principles:

• Animal safety must come first.

• Scientific evidence must guide product development.

• Cannabinoid therapies should complement—not replace—responsible veterinary care.

Everwild does not support intoxicating animals or allowing horses and pets to consume unapproved cannabis products. Accidental cannabis ingestion can be dangerous, and no experimental product should be used on an animal without appropriate scientific, regulatory, and veterinary oversight.

The purpose of this work is not to make claims before the evidence exists. It is to help ask the questions, build the research foundation, and encourage thoughtful discussion around an area of equine wellness that remains largely unexplored.

Why This Matters to Me

My horse has carried me through some of the most important and difficult stages of my life. As her comfort and mobility began to change, I wanted to explore whether there might someday be another responsible option for horses like her—one supported by controlled research rather than assumptions or anecdotal claims.

If this research can eventually contribute to safer and more effective ways of supporting equine comfort, it would allow me to give something back to the animals that have given so much to us.

Horses have carried us, worked beside us, and supported us for generations. We owe it to them to continue exploring responsible ways to improve their well-being.

Cannabis may not be the answer to every condition. But its potential deserves careful research, honest conversation, and an open scientific mind.
